During my EDUC 525 course, I studied and engaged with relevant legislation such as the School Act. For one assignment, I had to understand, assess and recommend if the School Board and Teacher in question were liable for a student’s injury. To successfully complete the assignment, I had to fully understand the Tort of Negligence test, and respond in accordance with the rules of the Tort to the presented situation. During completion of the assignment, I had to consider if the Teacher behaved in a way that a knowledgeable and reasonable adult would when entrusted in the care of a student. I had to consider the perspectives of the School Board, Teacher, Student and the Parents when making decisions during this assignment. By completing this assignment, I fully engaged with legislation that is relevant to Alberta Teachers.
